What is a Day Master?
The Day Master (Ri Zhu, 日主) is one of the ten Heavenly Stems: Jia 甲, Yi 乙, Bing 丙, Ding 丁, Wu 戊, Ji 己, Geng 庚, Xin 辛, Ren 壬, or Gui 癸. Each stem carries an element and Yin or Yang polarity. Pillar Atlas keeps the original character beside pinyin and plain English so the translation does not erase the source term.
A Day Master is a coordinate inside the chart. The month, season, other stems and branches, and interpretive school all affect a fuller reading.
The ten Day Masters
Wood: Jia 甲 (Yang) and Yi 乙 (Yin). Fire: Bing 丙 and Ding 丁. Earth: Wu 戊 and Ji 己. Metal: Geng 庚 and Xin 辛. Water: Ren 壬 and Gui 癸. Metaphors such as “tree,” “candle,” or “river” can aid reflection, but they should not become rigid personality claims.
How the calculator finds it
The server converts your local civil birth moment into the Four Pillars under our published boundary policy. It then reads the Day Pillar's stem. If your birth time is unknown, the Day Master can still be calculated because the hour pillar is not required.
Use it as a question, not an answer
A useful prompt is: “Where does this quality already appear in my choices, and where does the evidence disagree?” Reflection becomes safer when a symbol opens observation instead of closing it.
